Questions for a Raffle???

Ok a friend of mine is having a raffle to raise money for their last adoption and I thought this was a great idea to try and raise the rest of the money to pay off our adoption expenses. Since we are getting close to Christmas I thought this would be a great idea since people will be looking for Present ideas, plus everyone likes to win something right!?

So here is where I need your imput!! Please answer these following questions:
1. Would you participate in a raffle?
2. Do you think this is a good idea for us to raise the rest of the money needed?
3. What items would you think would make people want to buy raffle tickets?
4. Do you think gift certificates would be a good idea like Old Navy , Bath and Body, Childrens Place, Gap? If so how much ($20 or $25)?
5. How much should the raffle tickets be?

Ok please take the time and leave me a comment!!! You can also go check out my friend Carla's raffle too. You can check out her blog and raffle here! http://azhderianfamily.blogspot.com/
She is raffling off a really cute doll. This would be a great Christmas present for a little girl or a doll collector!

Thank You!

Hmmm... I would say a raffle ticket should be 1 for $5, or 3 for $10. The prize would need to be a little bigger, if you're hoping for a lot of $10 donations. Maybe a $40 gift certificate, for a place of their choice: Walmart, Outback Steakhouse, Old Navy, etc. Do you know someone in retail that may get you a card for free somewhere??? Maybe you could write a restaurant and ask them if they'd sponsor this project (give you a$40 gidt card).

Keep in mind the Pay Pal fees! Ah! For a $10 donation, they'll take about .60. So, maybe you can encourge checks... although Pay Pal is so easy and fast, so people are more likely to participate with Pay Pal as an option.

I would and do participate in raffles when they're for good causes!
I know a friend is doing one right now for a Wii to help another friend with medical expenses for their preemie baby. She's selling them for a $1 each or 6 for $5 and paid for the Wii the first day and had already seen profit! It's a popular item and especially with the holiday coming!

1. yes, I would participate in a raffle, especially if the raffle tickets weren't too expensive.
2. I think it's a great idea and people are more likely to give if there is a possibility of winning something--for the fun of it.
3. Since the holidays are coming, and most people have kids, I think that gift cert./cards are a great choice, Mary Ann.
4. I'd say $50 gift certificates. Mostly because you can't buy much for $25 anymore these days, especially at some places. You could also make a "gift card basket." Like five $10 gift cards to say like Starbucks, Bath & Body, Target, Walmart, etc. The winner of these little cards can use them as Christmas gifts for those unexpected visitors.
5. I agree w/Daphne on the price of the tickets.

I would participate. I think it would be good to do a gift card but also hit up some of your other adoption friends who have a special talent, like making jewelry, dresses or bows, and see if they would be willing to donate their services too.
