To Be Or Not To Be...

that is the question!

First of all this may be a surprise to you because we have not mentioned this to hardly anyone, only because we are waiting to see if this will be our next " Big Adventure".

The asking Price of this house $177,700

This is a house down the street from us for Sale. I have had my eye on it the (almost) 10 yrs. we have lived here. This house was built in 1952 and has sooooo much southern charm! Karlton says it reminds him of Charleston. It has 5 bedrooms and 3 baths. But one of the bedrooms would have to be an office. But ,the other kid bedrooms are bigger then the ones we have now which is a plus , we also need a 3rd bath (plus). It has a brand new beautiful kitchen w/ grantit counter tops (plus) w/ 5 windows in it.
The 3 baths are redone (plus). The minus' are the windows (22) and cracked doors are all original from 1952 and need to be replaced.

It needs some TLC, which we are used to giving old houses a little TLC. We would be giving up our Family room( for a little while) , but it has a( wonderful) Screened in porch

that we can use if we closed that in, and a basement / garage with 1,000 sq. feet if we need it.

The house is 2218 sq. ft. now. Closing in the screened porched (which I love ) and basement would give us 3,400 sq. ft. If need be. The bones of the house are great and has all original wood floors, we have looked at it 3 times. It has electric heat!!!!!! Yeah! I HATE GAS! Are bills are around $400 in the winter for Gas/ electric heat pump. I am not a fan of gas , It is NOT warmer, or more efficent just more expensive. And if the gas pump cracks you can be killed from the carbon monoxide from, like what happened to us in 2001. Yikes. Thank goodness I was pregnant and I could smell , what everyone says you can not smell. Oh yeah! We have a CM detector now!

The yard is Flat for the kids to ride bikes and play ball! Yeah!!! But only 1/2 an acre to were we have an acre now. We would have to fence it immediately. The drive way is around back on another street so we will be off this busy road! That end of GillsBrook is not nearly as busy as this end.

NOW!!!!!!! We have to wait and see if this is what GOD is telling us to do. We have are house up for Sale only by word of mouth before we turn it over to our relator/friend. God can sell this house with out us lifting a finger. We are leaving it to Gods will. IF not then we stay here, for a little longer.

Why sell??? We are busting out the seems of this house. The kids can not grow in this house and the appraiser and relators are telling us not to put another dime into this house.

What about the 4 acres we own in the country?? Well, technically it is owned by Karltons company. He is intending to build a Garage and office on it. He said right now it would be better

to find something to move into, because if we build a house it will take a while doing it ourselves with 5 kids. We also have to think about the kids!!!!! They all have great Schools and I don't want to mess that up. It is traumatic moving a kid from where they have known their whole life and all their friends. They all are on the A/B honor roll I am not messing with changing schools.

If we buy the house down the street we will not have to change their schools which they are all highly against. They all love the new house and they are already calling it our new house.

BUT....... We have to wait on God's clear answer. Please pray with us that we sale our house quickly, if we are meant to have this house.
Will this be the Shrum Family's next adventure????? We will see!!!

Are you serious?!!! 177,700? Oh my goodness, the cost of living is so much less there. Beautiful house, being that I am a Realtor, I can totally see why you love it. It will all work to good. Thanks for sharing, Susie

I love the house too!! We're in the same position...we're "officially" putting our house up for sale in a couple of weeks. We've found our "dream house" too and it's just around the corner (it was built in 1973). It was the first house that dh and I have both LOVED and we've looked at SEVERAL over the past few years. However, we're totally wanting to do God's will so we'll see if it's what He has planned for our family. I'll say a prayer for you guys and check back for updates. :)
