The Blue Ridge Parkway

These are some scenic pictures from our trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The first picture is just when we started to go up, up, up, and up........ I thought we we never get to the top! Have I ever told you all I do not like driving in the mountains? lol........;0)

We finally made it to the Parkway and this was our view from the first over look.

We were about 5,700 feet above sea level....and it was windy and cooooold!!!! Burrrr! Karlton asked me if I wanted my picture made with the kids and I said  "no thanks, I just want to get back in the car."

The kids exploring the rocks.

Lilee thought Jordan was hilarious because he was teetering on these sharp rocks. She was saying, " mom look at Jordan!."

We saw a beautiful lake on the way..........

The leaves got alot brighter the higher we went!

We didn't spend much time on the Parkway.... Josiah is just like his mama and started to freak out the higher we went! He asked me to please turn around and go back a hundred times, and I was happy to oblige him but the rest of the car was screaming to go on to the Parkway, that this is one of the reasons we came on this trip..... Karlton said I only had to drive 5 miles on it. I made it to the 1st over look with no problem.....But before we even got to the 2nd one, there was no guardrails and it was a really long way down a cliff, poor Josiah was really upset by then and I was right there with him. So, I said we needed to start going back down, so we could start hiking to some waterfalls ;0) Luckily everyone agreed and Josiah said, " thank you mom!"  So we started back down ....I will share the hiking stories next post, I have a doozie to tell!

Stay tuned.........

Great pictures! I don't blame you
and Siah. Now that I'm a flat lander
the mountains scare the *^{# out of me. Especially without guard rails.
What's up with that?
You should enter your pictures on the
web site contest that I e-mailed you.
Have a great day, ya'll!
Love ya tons.
